ESPN's Todd McShay Says It Was A 'Mistake' To Attend Michigan's 'Signing Of The Stars'

Last Wednesday was national signing day and kids from all across the country decided where they would spend the next four to five years of their lives playing football.

Most schools had their normal press conferences with the media to talk about the incoming recruits.

Jim Harbaugh and the University of Michigan went a different route and held the "Signing of the Stars" event that included Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Ric Flair and ESPN's Todd McShay.

According to Sports Illustrated, McShay regretted his decision.

ESPN management said that McShay was not paid for the appearance and it did not know about his attendance prior to the event. To his credit, McShay answered the question when asked by SI. "I completely understand that I made a mistake and clearly should have discussed this appearance with ESPN in advance," he said. "I will obviously learn from this situation, and in no way will this compromise the quality or objectivity of my work going forward."

I had wondered if it was a conflict of interest for McShay since he is paid to critique athletes but at Michigan he had nothing but praise for each recruit that was shown.

Did you have a problem with Todd McShay at Michigan's event?
