Authorities Investigate Apparent Case Of Deadly Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

PLEASANT RIDGE (WWJ) - Police in Pleasant Ridge are investigating an apparent case of deadly carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police responded around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to the home at Maywood and Indiana avenues, near Woodward Avenue and I-696, and found a 61-year-old woman dead inside.

The woman's husband, also 61, was conscious when first responders arrived and was treated at the scene.

Officials are awaiting autopsy results to reveal a cause of death, but carbon monoxide appears to be the suspected cause. Pleasant Ridge Police Chief Kevin Nowak told the Detroit News that elevated levels of carbon monoxide were measured in the home.

The case remains under investigation.
