Behind The Song: Justin Bieber- "Where Are U Now?"

By Brian Ives

Jack U's GRAMMY nominated "Where Are U Now?" was the first step in Justin Bieber's career rehab. After being absent from the music scene for a few years, Bieber began working with Jack U's Skrillex on his comeback album, Purpose.

But he was introduced to fans via his guest appearance on the Jack U song, which is nominated for the Best Dance Recording GRAMMY.

When Radio.com spoke with Bieber, he noted that simply the idea that he was working with Skrillex helped to change the way music fans see him: "It shows the world, ‘Hey, if Skrillex is so authentic with his music, and he’s co-signing on Justin Bieber, let’s give him a shot.’ Because I think certain people, especially dudes… I’m a 21 year old man. I do pop music. I don’t know if it’s necessarily ever been ‘cool’ to like Justin Bieber. And I’m not saying, ‘Yeah, dude, come be a ‘Belieber,” I don’t know, really, what that entails."

Bieber was looking to move on from his boy-band phase -- his "Belieber" phase, if you will -- and "Where Are U Now?" was the first step in that direction.

To see if Justin wins his first GRAMMY , watch the 58th GRAMMY Awards on Monday, February 15th at 8 p.m. on CBS.
