Highland Park Offers Ticket Amnesty Program
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Long lines are expected as people take advantage of a ticket amnesty program, beginning Tuesday in Highland Park.
Paula Ramsey, a court administrator at 30th District Court, says anyone who has outstanding traffic tickets in the city can pay the ticket and save money because reinstatement fees, default fees, late fees, and any warrants fees attached to the ticket will be waived.
Ramsey said they're anticipating huge crowds.
"We are looking to do some things for crowd control," she told WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas. "As you know, that when they had amnesty in Detroit...that's a much larger court and venue — so we may not have as many people as they did — but we're expecting, though, thousands hopefully as well."
"...We're thinking that, you know, it is tax time, and folks who didn't have the money and now probably have a little extra money and want to take care of that business will be able to do it now," she added, "and save money at the same time."
The program runs Feb. 16 through March 31.
To take advantage of the program, bring the money for your ticket in person to 30th District Court at 12050 Woodward Ave. in Highland Park, during regular business hours.
