Western Michigan University Vows To Improve Security Alerts In Wake Of Kalamazoo Killings

KALAMAZOO (WWJ/AP) - The President of Western Michigan University is vowing to improve the security alerts in the wake of the Kalamazoo massacre.

President John Dunn admits the university failed to provide adequate information and updates. A statement posted on the Western Michigan website says it was 11:30 Saturday night when the shootings were linked and the Public Safety Chief was on his way to a briefing when Jason Dalton was arrested.

There will be a university-wide forum at 7 o'clock Monday to provide information and gather input on improving the safety alert system.

Forty-five-year-old Jason Dalton was arrested in connection with a weekend rampage that left six people dead in western Michigan is due in court.

Dalton of Kalamazoo County is expected to be arraigned Monday on murder charges.
