Detroit Titans Looking To Dominate Horizon League Tournament [PODCAST]

DETROIT -- March Madness has struck in Detroit.

Tony Ortiz spoke with Detroit Titans Head Coach Ray McCallum ahead of the team's appearance at the Horizon League Tournament, which tips off Saturday at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Ten teams will play nine games in four days, and the Titans are hoping to come out on top.

McCallum said he has really seen growth in his players throughout the season.

"We got off to a great start in the conference season where we won three in a row and we thought it was easy. Then, we proceeded to lose six in a row, and that really tests your character and your commitment," he said. "From there, we got tougher, we banded together and just are competing at a higher level on both ends."

McCallum said the team this year is one of the deepest he has ever coached.

"We have a lot of balance and a lot of guys can do a lot of different things, so we wanted to give everyone an opportunity. So, it's not unusual for us to play nine guys ... 10 minutes or more," he said. "So, I think our team is built for a great run in this tournament because we have a bench play. I have confidence in everyone on our bench."
