Celebrity-Owned Burger Joint 'Wahlburgers' To Open In Greektown This Summer

DETROIT (WWJ) - A new national restaurant will be opening in Detroit this summer.

Wahlburgers is coming to Greektown! The Boston-based burger chain, founded by actor Mark Wahlberg and his two brothers, is moving into the Greektown Entertainment District and will be located at 569 Monroe Street.

"My family and I are grateful to be part of the rebuilding of the great city of Detroit with the summer opening of Wahlburgers," Wahlberg said in a statement.

Wahlburgers, which will be operated by franchise owner Nino Cutraro, is expected to open this summer with plans to convert the space to two stories, bringing the total square footage to 4,200-square feet. The restaurant and bar will be open daily for lunch and dinner and will serve freshly ground beef burgers, salads, Yukon gold fries, tater tots and more.

"Millions of people will enjoy this fun new restaurant located conveniently near our casino and hotel in historic Greektown, and is joining many long-time favorite restaurateurs in this vibrant entertainment district," Mark Dunkeson, president and chief operating officer of JACK Entertainment LLC, said in a statement.

As described on its website, "Wahlburgers offers a fun, casual music-filled atmosphere where guests, like family, share great food, a few laughs and lots of love. While its interior décor is filled with photos and memorabilia celebrating the Wahlberg brothers' life journeys from Dorchester, Mass. neighborhood kids to rising chef and international superstars, Wahlburgers makes food the REAL star."
