Novi Cop Dragged By Car During Traffic Stop

NOVI (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a suburban Detroit police officer has been treated and released after being dragged by a motorist following a traffic stop Monday.

City of Novi spokeswoman Sheryl Walsh said in a statement that the officer pulled over a woman around 2 a.m. The woman re-entered her car at some point and the officer grabbed her left arm and she drive off. Walsh says the woman had two children with her and told the officer she needed to make arrangements for them.

Walsh says the woman then drove away and the officer, who tried to restrain her, was dragged about 20 to 25 yards.

The woman, who is known to police, is being sought.
