Flyers President Paul Holmgren Wants To Kidnap Dylan Larkin And Stick Him In The Bathroom

While reading this post, keep one thing in mind: Context matters, especially on social media.

Dylan Larkin, 19, has lit the hockey world on fire. The Red Wings rookie has scored 20 goals and added in 20 assists. Those are pretty stellar numbers for a teenager.

And everyone has taken notice.

Philadelphia Flyer president Paul Holmgren met with the media Tuesday afternoon to talk about Philadelphia hosting the 2016 CCM All-American Prospects Game. While there, he made an interesting comment about the Wings rookie.

"I'd like to be a kidnapper and stick Dylan Larkin in a bathroom for at least the next few hours."

Now that looks pretty bad, but Dave Isaac, who is the Flyers beat reporter for the Courier-Post quickly tried to make Holmgren appear less creepy. It could only be worse if he had said "Dylan Larkin -- It puts the puck in the net," in the style of "Silence of the Lambs."

One fan on Twitter had the perfect response to Holmgren.

Larkin was on hand for the announcement, thankfully not having been locked in the bathroom with the older gentleman.

It doesn't matter if it was a joke or not, it's a pretty odd statement from the Flyers president, especially when viewed as a single sentence on social media without "instead of playing in the game" as the unwritten context.

The Red Wings take on Holmgren's Flyers tonight in Philly. Start time is at 7:10 p.m. on 97.1 The Ticket. Detroit is four point ahead of the Flyers for final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
