Death Of Man Found In Van That Caught Fire Ruled Accidental

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ/AP) - The death of a man whose body was found in a van that caught fire in Oakland County has been ruled accidental.

Oakland County Deputy Medical Examiner Bernardino Pacris has found 48-year-old Scott Keisling died of smoke inhalation and acute alcohol intoxication in the March 6 fire outside of the Cheetah 1 Express transport company in Madison Heights.

Madison Heights police said Tuesday that surveillance video showed Keisling got into the company's van about two hours before the fire was reported, according to The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak. Police Chief Corey Haines says the van was unlocked outside the business.

Haines says the Madison Heights Fire Department hasn't been able to determine what started the fire. He says "we are confident that it wasn't caused by any other means than an accident."

Police said Keisling had no connection to the company.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 248-585-2100.
