Duck Rescued From Atop Downtown Detroit Skyscraper [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) - A lucky duck is recovering after being found injured on top of a 27-story building in downtown Detroit.

The Michigan Humane Society rescue department responded to a call from a concerned maintenance worker in the skyscraper on Fort Street Thursday. The team discovered the little guy — who they've since dubbed "Daffy Duck" — with a broken wing and one blind eye from a previous ulcer.

"The area on the roof had complete openings, so the duck could have easily fallen off or attempted to fly. So we had to make sure that he wasn't getting too close to the edge," said Elise Ramsey, MHS Cruelty Investigator. "We went up with the net and because he was a little bit slower due to his injury, we were able easy get him to safety."

The injured mallard, which has been receiving care at MHS before, will be transferred to a wildlife rehabilitator at the  Howell Nature Center before being released back into the wild.
