Police Officer Injured In Crash With Suspected Drunk Driver

DETROIT (WWJ) -  A Detroit police officer is recovering after an accident on the city's west side involving a suspected drunk driver.

The accident happened just after 4 a.m. on Joy Road at Grandmont, just east of Southfield Road.

Circumstances surrounding the crash weren't immediately clear, but the officer's cruiser was struck on the passenger side.

The officer suffered what were described as minor injuries.

The suspect, identified only as a male, was also injured in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
