Schools Remain Open As More Teacher Sickouts Expected
DETROIT (WWJ) - More teacher sickouts and protests are expected at Detroit Public Schools. Two schools may be affected and close Monday -- Bow Elementary on the city's northwest side and Mason Academy on the east side.
More are expected this week.
The teacher protests are in response to Governor Rick Snyder's plan for a state oversight of the district. Protesters are asking for the return of local control--they're holding a noon rally at the Fisher Building in Detroit.
DPS transition manager Steven Rhodes is condemning the sickouts.
