Police Looking For Man Who Shoplifted From Westland Macy's, Assaulted Security Officer

WESTLAND (WWJ) -- Police in Westland are asking for the public's help identifying a subject wanted for shoplifting and assaulting a security officer.

On March 11, a male suspect was seen walking out of the Macy's store in the Westland Mall with a large amount of clothing. When confronted in the parking lot by a security officer, the man struck her and dropped the clothing, fleeing to a black newer model Jeep.

The security officer was not seriously injured.

The man was accompanied by a white female, a child and an infant. He is described as a white male, approximately 40-years-old, 5-feet-10 tall and is estimated to weigh 300 pounds.

He was believed to be bald, but the witness was not sure because the suspect was wearing a hat.

If you have information regarding this incident contact the Westland Police Department at 734-722-9600 or Sgt. Gazdecki at 734-467-3250.
