Police Call Off Search After Residents Say Child Seen In Creek

MILAN (WWJ) -- Police officers from Milan and Ypsilanti searched a creek looking for a young girl who may have went into the water before calling off the search Friday evening.

Witnesses called police and said they saw a 5-year-old child go in the creek near the Saline River next to a trailer park along Allen Road, south of Ann Arbor about 3:20 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Police say they have no reports of a missing child, but went going door-to-door asking residents about a missing child before calling off the search.

K-9 units from Ypsilanti police helped in the search. A helicopter from the Monroe County Sheriff Department also assisted.
