Russ McNamara: Temps Dip Before Tigers Opening Day

Russ McNamara, WWJ

Spring? Maybe not next week...

Everyone is already making plans for that summer garden and being outside because the weather is supposed to be nicer - but - you might want to hold off on that. It's a return of our spring nemesis. I won't say its name because that will only make it worse. It rhymes with Solar Cortex. But as you can see...

Cold Snap 1

...It's going to get pretty chilly for a few days. The polar jet is going to nose dive right across the Upper Midwest and drop temperatures 20 degrees below normal - giving us highs in the lower to mid-30s! The timing of this is all important since Tigers' Opening Day is at the end of the week and the last thing we want is people freezing at the game.

This should turn out to be an anomaly. Temps should rebound and we'll spend most of the month right around normal with temps in the mid-50s to lower-60s the rest of the month.
