It's Detroit's annual spring ritual and the biggest party of the year - the Detroit Tigers Home Opener. Join 97.1 The Ticket, Detroit's Sports Station and radio home for Tigers Baseball, at the annual 97.1 The Ticket Opening Day Block Party presented by Greektown Casino on Friday, April 7 from 10 am – 6 pm in downtown Detroit's Grand Circus Park. Admission to the Block Party is FREE.
This year's event is bigger with 97.1 The Ticket taking over both sides of Woodward. There will be more giant screens to watch the game, more beer options, more music, more food from local restaurants, more interactive games and more vendors.
On the east side of the park, guests may buy beer in the Labatt View and Brew Tent and enjoy food from Slow's BBQ, the MotorCity Casino food truck and other area restaurants. 98.7 AMP Radio will be mixing the hits on the McDonald's main stage until 11:00 am when Brena, West Michigan's premier party band takes over. At 1:00 pm, watch the Detroit Tigers take on the Boston Red Sox on the giant video screen. This year, Detroit's fastest Internet service from Rocket Fiber is powering the event. After the game, 98.7 AMP Radio will return to the McDonald's main stage to spin the more hits.
The action continues on the west side of Woodward. Bell's Brewery has created the Bell's Beer Oasis, serving its most popular craft beers. There will be delicious food from local restaurants and McDonald's will provide music from its Hummer interactive entertainment center. Guests can play their favorite tailgate games and still catch all the Tigers action on another big screen. FanaticU will have commemorative Opening Day Block Party t-shirts available.
Fans can meet their favorite radio hosts throughout the day as they broadcast from in and around Comerica Park including from the Opening Day Block Party, inside Hockeytown Cafe and outside Comerica Park.
