Authorities: Teen Found With Gun, Knives At Michigan School
MAYVILLE, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old Michigan boy is facing charges after being found with a loaded gun and knives in his backpack at school.
Tuscola County Prosecutor Mark Reene says the Mayville High School student was arrested Thursday after being found with a pistol, two gun magazines and seven knives. WNEM-TV reports the student apparently had been in class at the school, located about 65 miles north of Detroit.
The arrest came a day after Reene said the student made a verbal threat to harm another student. That student told a school staffer.
WLEW-AM reports charges include carrying concealed weapons, carrying weapons with unlawful intent and having weapons in a school zone. The student, whose name wasn't released, in being held in juvenile detention. He's due back in court on Wednesday.
