Man Found Dead In Inkster: 'This Was Not A Random Shooting'

INKSTER (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a killer after a man was found shot to death in Inkster.

Michigan State Police say the incident unfolded around 12:15 a.m. Thursday when police received a 911 call about a "man down" in 1400 block of Jeffrey Lane, near Middle Belt Road and Parkwood Street.

Police responded to the scene and found a man who was obviously deceased lying in the front yard of a home. Detectives also located shell casings in the area.

The scene was processed for evidence and investigators are currently interviewing witnesses, but circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

One thing is certain, though. "This was not a random shooting," police said in a statement.

Authorities say the victim is well-known to law enforcement. His name has not yet been released.

A description of a possible suspect was not immediately available.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
