Troy Residents, Businesses Asked To Register Security Cameras With Police

TROY (WWJ) - Troy police are asking residents and businesses with security cameras to register their equipment with police.

The "Extra Eyes Program" allows law enforcement to more easily ask for help in getting security footage that might aid them in investigations.  Participation is voluntary.

Participation and release of camera footage is completely voluntary, police said, and officers will never have direct access to camera systems.

Participants in the program will receive a window decal to display at their business or home — both to deter criminal activity at the establishment as well as publicize the program.

Troy residents can sign up at this link

The Troy Police Department will hold a community forum, to discuss the program in more detail, at the Troy Police and Fire Training Center, 4850 John R on Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m.

Those with questions Sgt. Meghan Lehman at 248-619-7263.
