Western Michigan Police Officer Fatally Shoots Knife-Wielding Man

KENTWOOD, Mich. (AP) — A man has been fatally shot by an officer in western Michigan as police were investigating a domestic situation that later resulted in the death of a 41-year-old woman.

Police say the 43-year-old man was threatening officers with a knife when he was shot. He later died at a hospital.

Officers approached the man Friday night after following footsteps in the snow from an apartment complex where the woman was found bleeding about 9 p.m. in an apartment. Her death is under investigation.

A 7-year-old boy was found unharmed in the apartment.
