Man Wanted In Brutal Stabbing Of Taxi Driver In Detroit [PHOTO]
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are looking for help from the public as they search for a man who they say "brutally stabbed" a cab driver in Detroit.
Police say it happened just before 2 p.m. Monday while the 42-year-old taxi driver was at work in the downtown area.
The driver picked up the suspect in the area of Beaubien and Monroe. He requested to be driven to a location near I-94 and Grand River, where he went inside a store and returned to the cab driver, who was waiting outside.
Police said the suspect then told the driver to take him to another area, and when the cab driver refused, the suspect reached through the divider and began stabbing him several times.
The victim was cut, police said, when he tried to defend himself.
The suspect fled following the assault, and the victim drove himself to a local hospital where he was treated for what were described as critical injuries.
Police released a security camera image of the suspect.
He's described as a black male, around 35 year-old, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 150 lbs. He was wearing an orange hat, orange hooded sweatshirt, gray jogging pants, and gray gym shoes.
