DTE Energy Creates 120 New Jobs For Detroiters At Call Center

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - DTE Energy Co. says it's creating 120 new jobs for Detroiters to help staff its expanding customer call center.

The Detroit-based utility says it will partner with Strategic Staffing Solutions, which will be responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing the employees.

The jobs are at DTE's downtown headquarters. Workers will be trained on call center system housed in the Penobscot Building. They'll answer and respond to inquiries about service, billing and payment transactions as well as emergency and outage situations.

"As a Detroit-based company for more than 100 years, we're pleased to be able to offer new, meaningful opportunities to Detroiters," Jerry Norcia, president and chief operating officer of DTE Energy, said in a statement. "As a major employer in the Detroit community, we want to continue to be part of the revitalization of the city. Creating jobs through collaboration only furthers this effort."

Interested applicants are required to have a high school diploma, and two years of experience with direct customer contact is preferred.
