The Snack Attack: Ruffles Brings A Taste Of Canada To US With All Dressed Chips, And We're All Aboot It

I'm always on the lookout for new foods when I'm at the store and these chips reeled me right in: Ruffles All Dressed.

The bag says All Dressed is the number one flavor in Canada, described only as tasting salty, savory and sweet all at the same time.

Frito-Lay says "the hard-to-describe, hard-to-put-down flavor took Americans' hearts and stomachs by storm last fall during its limited engagement and left fans begging for more when the chips came off store shelves in December. But no longer. Ruffles All Dressed potato chips are in the U.S. to stay."

And thank the holy chip Gods they are because these chips are a slice of salty, sweet, savory heaven.

Everyone should try these chips! They're available nationwide in two sizes — a 2.6-oz. bag for a suggested retail price of$1.49 and a 8.5-oz bag for a suggested retail price of $4.29.

Review: Ruffles All Dressed Chips

Appearance: When I poured the chips out I initially thought "Where's the seasoning?" but that's only because its light orange color is nearly the same color as the chip itself. All the chips seemed evenly seasoned, at least.

Aroma: I tried to determine separate scents but the only flavor I could make out was some type of barbecue sauce.

Taste: Imagine if a barbecue chip, no, a sassy Canadian barbecue chip had a baby with a striking salt and vinegar chip. This is probably what that little baby chip would taste like. It's a delicious mixture that really is hard to describe, but the flavor is so strong and robust yet subtly sweet at the same time. Maybe the sweetness comes from a little maple-flavored seasoning? Some ketchup? Either way, it's the perfect combination. These would probably taste really good with some type of dip.

Pros: In true Ruffles fashion, these chips are delightfully crunchy and I think the ridges might even act as little flavor tunnels for the seasoning. It's a complex flavor that can satisfy more than one craving at the same time.

Cons: I really can't think of any, now that it's a permanent flavor in the Ruffles lineup.

Rating: 10 out of 10 -- As far as chips go, these are pretty much the best you can get.
