Police: Woman Shot Dead During Argument, Boyfriend In Custody

WATERFORD (WWJ) - Police in Waterford are investigating a deadly case of domestic violence after a woman was fatally shot by her boyfriend.

Police say the situation unfolded just after 5:30 p.m. Friday when they were contacted by a relative to do a welfare check on a 34-year-old woman at a home in the 200 block of Tilmor, in a neighborhood near Scott Lake and Elizabeth Lake roads.

When officers arrived, they made entry into the home and discovered the woman was deceased.

Investigators interviewed the woman's 44-year-old boyfriend, who admitted to investigators that he had shot his girlfriend during a verbal argument in the home, according to police.

Police will submit their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Monday, seeking a warrant for felony murder.

The suspect remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail.
