What Happened To Jessica Heeringa? 3 Years Later, Family Remains Vigilant In Search For Answers

NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - The family of a woman who disappeared three years ago from her job at a gas station in western Michigan continues to monitor a Facebook page and tip hotline in hopes the young mother will one day be found.

Jessica Heeringa disappeared April 26, 2013, before she was set to close the station in Norton Shores. Hundreds of tips have been investigated and a cash reward topping $21,000 is being offered in the case -- but still, no one knows what happened to Herringa.

A "Find Jessica Heeringa" Facebook page is still being monitored by her family, who takes tips that come into the hotline.

On April 11, the TV show "Disappeared" on the Investigation Discovery channel featured Heeringa's case, and police received multiple calls following the broadcast. But Norton Shores Police Chief Jon Gale says no significant leads were provided.

Gale says police stay in contact with Heeringa's family regularly to keep them updated.

Investigators have said they think Heeringa was taken against her will by someone she likely knew. Police said there was no indication of a robbery, as Heeringa's purse, vehicle and other items were left behind at the scene. DNA testing showed a small amount of blood found outside the gas station belonged to Heeringa.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME or call 911.
