240 Students From 6 Detroit Schools To Attend Career Expo
DETROIT (AP) - About 240 students from a half-dozen high schools in Detroit are expected to participate in the police department's annual Bridging the Gap youth career expo.
The event is scheduled to start Thursday morning at the UAW-Ford National Programs Center.
Henry Ford, Central, Mumford, Denby, Pershing and Southeastern high schools are taking part. The schools are in the state-run Education Achievement Authority.
The Detroit Police Department's field recruitment and special response teams, mounted unit, air support and bomb squad will be among the vendors in attendance.
Others include the city's fire department and Emergency Medical Services, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, UAW-Ford, Trainco Truck Driving Schools and Universal Technical Institute.
