Man Gets Prison After Wife's Body Found In Burning Vehicle
ATLANTA, Mich. (AP) - A 67-year-old man from Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula has been sentenced to 25-60 years in prison in the slaying of his wife whose body was found in the rear seat of a burning vehicle.
Erich Wilfinger learned his punishment on Wednesday during a hearing in Circuit Court.
He earlier pleaded no contest to second-degree murder. It's not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes.
Marsha Wilfinger's burned remains were discovered June 20 in Montmorency County's Albert Township. Authorities say it appeared that the vehicle had been towed to the area and they followed a trail of road marks and auto parts to a home in Briley Township.
Investigators have said there was evidence of a recent domestic assault at the home.
