Michigan Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Raping Delaware Girl

OGLETOWN, Del. (AP) - A Michigan man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl he met online and then met in person at an Ogletown, Delaware, motel.

Department of Justice officials say 40-year-old William Burrows was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to sexual solicitation of a child and fourth-degree rape.

Authorities say Burrows traveled in July 2015 from Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Ogletown and raped the girl. Two days later, Burrows threatened two of the victim's friends with a box cutter, telling them to stay away from the victim.

Burrows must also serve six months at Level IV home confinement and two years at Level III probation following his prison sentence. He must also register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender counseling.
