Lincoln Park Man Allegedly Tries To Pay Girl To Remove Pants At Walmart

FOWLERVILLE (CBS Detroit)  Allegedly offering to pay a young girl to take her pants down at the Fowlerville Walmart landed a 25-year-old Lincoln Park man in jail.

Sgt. John Tyler of the Fowlerville Police Department confirmed that it happened to an 11-year-old girl between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Thursday at the Walmart at 970 Gehringer Drive in Fowlerville.

The suspect allegedly first spotted the girl while she was looking at toys and offered to buy her one. He later coerced her into a family bathroom and tried to ply her with $20 in exchange for her removing her pants.

She was scared and managed to run away and find her parents, police said.

The parents called police with a detailed description of the man, who was quickly found and arrested.

"It's a small community so when I saw the surveillance photo, I was able to recognize him," said Sgt. Tyler. Tyler added the suspect "admitted he had coerced her into the bathroom."

There was no weapon or threat involved, but police have scheduled a follow-up interview with the victim to make sure nothing else transpired and help set her up with counseling.

The name and photo of the Lincoln Park man have not yet been released, pending arraignment.
