The Snack Attack: Pizza Hut Rolls Out New Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza [TASTE TEST]

Everything is better with bacon, especially pizza. So it makes sense that the latest creation from Pizza Hut will be "bacon" you crazy.

I'm talking about the new Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza.

Here's how PH describes it: The Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza features a stuffed crust filled with a delicious blend of three cheeses – mozzarella, white cheddar and provolone – and pieces of real Applewood smoked bacon – a crust so good, you may want to eat your pizza backwards.

This flavorful twist on the original Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust Pizza is available for a limited time for $12.99 (one topping).

Comedian Bobby Moynihan, the pizza's paid sponsor, said on a scale of 1 to 10 stars, he would give it 363 million stars. I wouldn't go quite that far, but if you like stuffed crust and you're a fan of bacon -- and let's be honest, who isn't -- this pizza is definitely worth trying, but don't expect to be blown away.

Review: Pizza Hut Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza

Appearance: What a good lookin' pizza! The crust was sprinkled generously with Hut Favorite seasoning and was puffed up so high, creating the illusion that it was stuffed full of cheese -- but I would soon find out this was mostly just due to huge pockets of air.

Of course I had to cut the crust open, and when I did I discovered that calling it a "stuffed crust" is slightly misleading. On an original stuffed crust pizza, there's a solid amount of melty cheese lining the entire length of the crust. But in this version, it's almost like the crust was lined with balls of cheese and bacon in such a way that there isn't even cheese in every bite.

And the pizza itself is akin to a wet noodle, a skin flap, a floppy layer that requires two hands to hold unless you want to eat your pizza like a baby bird with head tilted back and mouth to the sky. There's literally no structure to this pizza, so toppings must be kept to a minimum.

Aroma: I was expecting at least a faint smell of bacon, but I couldn't smell it at all. Maybe it was because of the Hut Favorite seasoning, but the only smell that really stood above that classic pizza scent was garlic.

Taste: Despite the pathetically floppy crust, the pizza itself has that classic Pizza Hut taste that we've grown to love. It's no crispy pan pizza, but the flavors are still there. Down to the crust -- there's no mistaking it's infused with bacon and it actually tastes natural, not that artificial "fakeon" flavor companies seem to be adding to everything. I just wish there was more!! If you're really looking for a pork party, maybe swap out the pepperoni topping for bacon, too.

Pros: A bacon flavor that is actually natural, but that's pretty much where the list ends.

Cons: Has the feel of a gas station pizza, if you know what I'm saying. Floppy and not strong enough to hold toppings. And not enough cheese in the crust.

Rating: 6 out of 10 -- The tasty bacon flavor makes up for how lackluster the rest of the pizza is.
