2 Hospitalized After Head-On Collision, Crash Into Condos At Hayes And Hall Road

MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Two people were injured in an accident Thursday involving an head-on collision, a crash into a building and a truck fire.

Macomb County Sheriff's officials say it happened at 8 a.m. near the intersection of Hayes and Hall roads in Macomb Township.

A 61-year-old Shelby Township man in a Subaru Outback was heading southbound Hayes Road when he approached stopped traffic at Hall Road and was unable to slow down in time, then veering into oncoming traffic and hitting a Ford F-150 head-on.

The collision caused the pickup, 57-year-old Harrison Township man, to leave the roadway and travel about 200 feet, striking a building in the Ashley Commons Condominium complex.

The truck caught fire, but Macomb Township Firefighters were able to put it out. 

The drivers of both vehicles were injured and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of what authorities say are non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff's officials said no one in the condos was injured, but two units in the building were damaged.

Portions of the roadway were closed while the crash was investigated but has since reopened.
