Hostess Recalls 710K Snack Cakes And Donuts Due To Undeclared Peanut Residue

DETROIT (WWJ) - Hostess Brands is voluntarily recalling 710,000 cases of select snack cakes and donuts for undeclared peanut residue.

A supplier of flour (Grain Craft) for Hostess issued a recall -- which in turn -- forced Hostess to recall products made with the flour which may have had peanut residue.

Some of the snacks include Ding Dongs, Chocodiles, Zingers, in addition to snack cakes and donuts. The products have a best buy date of May and June 2016.

The recall made because people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume products containing peanut allergens, the amount of peanut exposure from use of the flours and affected products is considered to be low and not expected to cause adverse health effects in the vast majority of peanut allergic consumers.

According to a statement by Hostess -- they've received notice of two allergic reactions related to the product covered by this recall.

The recall applies only to the products listed [here].
