Necklace, Tattoo Help Taylor Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Crash

TAYLOR (WWJ) - Police say a tattoo, necklace and tips from the public helped them to identify a pedestrian hit by a car and killed Downriver over the weekend.

The victim — 55-year-old April Rosales of Taylor — was walking near Eureka Rd. and Westlake St., west of Telegraph Rd., at around 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.  She was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Rosales wasn't carrying any ID, police said, but when the media published images a tiger or dragon tattoo and a unique gold necklace she was wearing, her family recognized her and contacted authorities.

Police said the driver was not at fault in the crash but was arrested at the scene for driving on a suspended license.

The driver's name was not released.
