Police: 2 Bicyclists Struck By Speeding Car In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Two bicyclists are in serious condition after they were hit by a car on Detroit's west side.

Police say the man and woman were in a group of eight bicyclists along  McNichols when a driver in a black Pontiac Grand Prix — allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed — tried to avoid a minivan that was making a wide turn.

The Grand Prix lost control and hit one of the cyclists, police said, then going up the retaining wall, trapping the second one.

The victims, described only as a man and a woman, were taken to Sinai Grace Hospital.

Possible charges are pending as police continue to investigate the incident. Police said they were expecting to be able to release more information about the victims later Wednesday.
