Now Hiring: Wahlburgers Detroit Holds Job Fair In Greektown

DETROIT (WWJ) - This could be the restaurant job of your dreams.

Applicants were lined up down the street Wednesday morning for a big job fair in Greektown at the latest addition to the Boston-based burger chain founded by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers.

Wahlburgers is looking to fill about 150 positions in numerous areas — including experienced cooks, prep cooks, bartenders, servers, food runners, greeters and assembly and utility workers.

The job fair open house runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Wahlburgers Detroit is located at 569 Monroe Street in the Greektown Entertainment District.

The restaurant says each applicant should bring a resume, and dress for success.

WWJ's Laura Bonnell says there's some talk that Mark Wahlberg could show up at some point, in town working on the latest Transformers flick.

"That I can't tell you," said franchise owner Nino Cutraro. "But, I don't know...he's filming not too far from here, so there's a possibility Mark could come in."

Either way, Erica Rodan of Taylor, who hopes to land a gig as a waitress, thinks the celebrity connection is pretty cool.

"I feel like it is the name because it draws a lot of attention to it so you know it's going to have a lot of business," she said.

The two-story, 4,200-square foot restaurant will open later this month for lunch and dinner daily, serving freshly ground beef burgers, salads, Yukon gold fries, tater tots and more.

As described on its website, "Wahlburgers offers a fun, casual music-filled atmosphere where guests, like family, share great food, a few laughs and lots of love. While its interior décor is filled with photos and memorabilia celebrating the Wahlberg brothers' life journeys from Dorchester, Mass. neighborhood kids to rising chef and international superstars, Wahlburgers makes food the REAL star."

About 500 people had already applied before noon on Wednesday, according to Cutraro.

He said Mark Wahlberg will be at the opening.
