Draymond Green Arrested For Assault

EAST LANSING (CBS Detroit) Draymond Green, the former Michigan State basketball player and current member of the Olympic men's basketball team, was arrested Sunday in East Lansing.

Green's team, the Golden State Warriors, released the following statement:

"We are aware of news involving Draymond Green in Michigan over the weekend. At this point we are collecting information and will have nor further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation."

Lt. Scott Wrigglesworth with the East Lansing Police Department would initially only say a player was arrested. Later he gave these details:  Green was arrested at 2:30 a.m. July in downtown East Lansing for assault.

He was taken to the East Lansing jail, where he was lodged overnight. He posted a $200 bond the next day and was released.

The victim was not seriously injured, thought Green did make physical contact with him.

Police are not releasing information on whether he was breathalyzed.

Green was cooperative,  Wrigglesworth said.

Per MLive, Green has 10 days to return to East Lansing and be arraigned on the charge in the city's attorney office.

Green plays for the Golden State Warriors on a contract worth $85 million.

"At Michigan State, Green was a consensus 2012 All-American and set the program's all-time record for career rebounds. He is one three Spartans with over 1,000 career points (1,517 points) and 1,000 career rebounds (1,096)," according to MLive.
