Rowing Coach Jailed, Accused Of Hiding Camera In Girls' Changing Room

PLANFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a head men's rowing coach in western Michigan has been arrested after a hidden video camera was found containing images of girls changing their clothes.

The Kent County Sheriff's Department says 30-year-old Timothy Vallier was arrested Friday after the Rockford Public Schools district reported the camera had what appeared to be video from inside the changing room of the Rockford Crew House on Jupiter Ave. in Plainfield Township.

According to sheriff's officials, an investigated determined it was Vallier who hid the camera.

He's jailed at the Kent County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bond, charged with child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and child sexually abusive material.

Superintendent Mike Shibler says he contacted police immediately when a parent of a girl on the crew team alerted him of the video images. A letter was sent to parents.

Shibler told WOOD-TV that Vallier, who had to pass a background check before he was hired, had been is terminated as a coach for the district and will have no access to school property.

It does not appear that Vallier has a prior criminal record.
