Caught On Camera: Trio Steals Delivery Of Nearly $4,000 In Hats From Lids Store [VIDEO]

WESTLAND (WWJ) - Police are asking the public for help in identifying a trio of suspects wanted for stealing nearly $4,000 worth of hats from the Westland Mall.

The theft happened around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 at the Lids store inside the mall, located at Wayne and Warren roads.

Sgt. Robert Wilkie said a shipment was being delivered when the store got rather busy.

"What ended up happening is the clerk did not have time to immediately put that shipment away because he was dealing with other people," said Wilkie. "Somebody saw an opportunity and was able to sneak the box out of the store and carry it off to their car. ... It was over $3,800 worth of merchandise."

Wilkie said police are looking at a total of three suspects, all African American; two females and a male.
