'They'll Look Back And Really Be Ashamed,' Says Nader Of Republican Party

DETROIT (WWJ) - "The language of the campaign in the Republican party is an all-time degrading - I've never seen anything like it," said Ralph Nader while in town to be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.

"They are going to look back and really be ashamed - including the rank and file; Republicans who tolerated it. As far as the Democrats (are) concerned - they've got a problem with 'Hillary the Hawk' and the 'Wall Street Hillary.'"

In the same evening that Donald Trump was accepting the Republican nomination for president at the party's convention in Cleveland -- longtime consumer safety advocate -- and former presidential candidate -- Nader saying America deserves better, on both sides of the political aisle.

"We don't have really the kind of choices our country deserves," said Nader, "because we don't have the kind of civic engagement and voter demands that our country deserves. So it comes back to us - it's extremely important for citizens to do their homework, to separate fact from fiction to separate truth from slander."

Nader, famous for railing against automakers and authoring Unsafe At Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers of the American Automobile in 1965 was inducted into the 2016 class for the Automotive Hall of Fame.
