Man Charged In Fatal Stabbing After 11-Year-Old Witness Calls Police

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 32-year-old Dearborn Heights man has been charged in the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend's 20-year-old brother on Detroit's west side.

According to Wayne County prosecutors, Thomas Dominick Czapiewski got into an argument with the victim, Jalen Davis, while the two were drinking at his girlfriend's home at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 18400-block of Oakfield near 7 Mile and the Southfield Freeway.

Prosecutors say Czapiewski punched Davis and then fell down, becoming even more upset. That's when he allegedly went into the kitchen, got a knife, and stabbed Davis in the neck, killing him.

Sources told WWJ's Vickie Thomas an 11-year-old girl witnessed the entire incident. The child reportedly called 911 while hiding in the attic.

Czapiewski was arrested just down the street from the crime scene and charged Friday with second degree murder.

An arraignment was scheduled for Friday afternoon in 36th District Court.
