'Michigan Matters' Spotlight: Tom Izzo Helping Holy Redeemer, Ford Aiding Women Fighting Cancer, And Battling For The White House

MSU Coach Tom Izzo is pitching in to help Holy Redeemer Grade School as he headlines its annual fundraiser on August 4 to help the iconic school in Southwest Detroit raise funds to send more area children to school.

Dan Ewald, a graduate of the school which had made an imprint for over 100 years, talked about his efforts and other community champions including Steve Graus, of DC Sports, who also appeared with Carol Cain, Senior Producer/Host of CBS 62's Michigan Matters.

Tickets are still to the Aug 4 event held at the school.

And Ford's "Warrior in Pink" campaign was also a topic on the show when Tracy Magee, Brand Manager of the auto maker's efforts to help women battling breast cancer, appeared and talked about products it has created and selling to raise money to help the cause.

During the past 20 years, Ford has raised over $130 million to help women fighting breast cancer.

Brooks Patterson, Michigan Chronicle Senior Editor Keith Owens and Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon take to the roundtable to discuss Donald Trump and GOP Convention which wrapped up Thursday and the upcoming Democratic Convention when Hillary Clinton takes her turn at bat in the race for the White House.

They also talked about what's next in the battle over straight party ticket voting as a federal judge turned down the measure.
