Authorities: Woman Sets House Ablaze While Burning Husband's Belongings

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac woman is behind bars after authorities say she set fire to her home while burning her husband's belongings.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says deputies on Sunday afternoon responded to a call about a burning complaint at a home in the 500 block of N. Saginaw Street Saginaw Street, where they found what they're calling "family trouble."

That's when deputes allegedly witnessed the 42-year-old homeowner pouring fuel onto the fire, which caused it to spread to the house.

Firefighters from the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze, sheriff's officials said.

Authorities did not discuss why the woman may have set the fire. No one was hurt.

The woman was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending an expected arson charge.

An investigation by the OCSO Fire Investigation Unit is ongoing.
