Man Found Dead Under Blood-Soaked Sheet On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for two suspects after a 64-year-old man was found shot to death, his body concealed under a blood-soaked sheet on the city's west side.

The man's body was found laying on the road around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 15000 block of St. Mary's Street, in a neighborhood along Fenkell Avenue just west of Greenfield Road.

Police say the man was in a blue Chevy Impala with the two suspects when for some reason, they pulled him out of the car and shot him to death.

Neighbors told WWJ's Mike Campbell the unmistakable sound of gunshots sliced through the silence of the night.

"[I heard] about three shots last night, that's about it," said one man, who did not want to be named.

Another resident, who only wanted to be identified as Randolph, said the situation has left the neighborhood feeling scared.

"I've been coming down here a long time and it's the first time I've ever come and see a dead person lying in the street," said Randolph. "This really don't happen that much. You don't know whether or not this was associated with the lifestyle that that person led or whether or not this is random. So, that's what makes it scary."

Other residents weren't surprised to hear about the shooting. One man even laughed when posed with the question, saying, "We live in Detroit. This is ridiculous, man."

No arrests have been made. The suspects were described only as black males.

An investigation is ongoing.
