The Snack Attack: Porkgasm Warning -- Hardee's Introduces Mouthwatering Bacon 3-Way Burger [TASTE TEST]

One type of bacon isn't enough for this cheeseburger. Oh no, not even two. But three kinds of bacon? Now you're talking.

Hardee's just introduced a cheeseburger that's sure to send you into porkgasm territory: The Bacon 3-Way Thickburger.

Served on a brioche-style bun, the burger comes piled high with lettuce, tomato, American cheese and three types of bacon -- thick-cut Applewood-smoked bacon strips, crumbled bacon, and bacon jam, which combines bacon pieces, balsamic vinegar, caramelized onions and molasses.

Talk about a game changer!

Just one thing to keep in mind before you order this burger, it's not going to look like the promo images. Not at all. But luckily, looks have nothing to do with taste.

In case you didn't know, Hardee's has three locations in the Detroit area: John R Road in Hazel Park, Mound Road in Sterling Heights and 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township. If you live south of Detroit, trust me -- it's worth the trip!

MMMMMM BACON! (credit: CBSDetroit.com)

Appearance: This thing is literally covered with bacon! The lettuce and tomato come underneath the burger instead of on top -- and let's be honest, that's how it should be. There was a heaping pile of bacon crumbles on my burger, and both buns were covered with the bacon jam. A minor complaint though, one of the bacon strips was floppy and the other was crispy. Nothing is worse than limp, chewy bacon.

Aroma: If you thought this burger was going to smell like bacon, you're right. And that's pretty much all it smells like.

Taste: WOW! Each bite of this burger was loaded with bacon, but the flavor wasn't so overpowering that you think you're eating it right off the pig. You can still taste the beef. There was so much bacon jam slathered on the buns that it was dripping off -- which also means this burger is very, very messy. And you know I put my fries in those sweet drippings. Let no bacon go to waste, people. But on that note, the bacon jam only tastes a little like bacon, which is kind of weird. It has more of a smokey, sweet flavor, which compliments the other forms of bacon but doesn't do much to elevate it. Don't get me wrong, the jam tastes delicious, it's just not very bacon-y. It's also the only "wet" condiment on the burger. A dab of mustard really would have taken this thing over the top.

Pros: Bacon in every bite. The bacon jam lends a unique flavor I've never tasted before in a burger.

Cons: The beef itself was juicy, but the burger as a whole was kind of dry.

Rating: 8 out of 10 - It's going to be really hard eating a regular bacon cheeseburger after tasting this delicious 3-way creation.
