Authorities: Pokemon Hunter Arrested In Drunken Hit-And-Run Crash

COMMERCE TWP. (WWJ) - A 28-year-old man is jailed after Oakland County authorities say he crashed his car while driving drunk and playing a popular smartphone game.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were called, just after noon on Thursday, to the 200 block of Meadows Cir. E. about a driver who witnesses said hit a parked car and then fled the scene.

Following a trail of vehicle debris, deputies were able to follow the suspect to his home in Walled Lake.

Determining that the man had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, deputies took him into custody. Under questioning, the suspect admitted that he had been searching for digital creatures as part of the Pokemon Go smartphone game, while driving, when he struck the parked vehicle.
