Housekeeper Charged With Stealing $13,000 In Jewelry

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police say a 26-year-old housekeeper was doing much more than just cleaning and dusting at a home in Bloomfield Township, she was apparently stuffing her pockets with the resident's jewelry.

Stephanie Dzieszkowski, of Shelby Township, was arrested last week on two felony charges in connection with thefts that stretch back to April.

Police say their investigation began on April 7, when police in New Baltimore arrested Dzieszkowski for a home invasion. Officers say Dzieszkowski was carrying tax returns and personal checks belonging to a resident in 3000 block of Lincoln, near Lahser and 14 Mile in Bloomfield Township.

Police contacted the homeowner and discovered that Dzieszkowski was a housekeeper for the resident.

Through further investigation, police say they determined that Dzieszkowski attempted to cash a forged check on the resident's account. She also allegedly stole over $13,000 worth of jewelry while cleaning the victim's home, the majority of which was recovered at local pawn shops.

Dzieszkowski was arraigned at the 48th District Court on charges of  personal identifying information - possession with  intent to commit identity theft, and larceny over $1,000 less than $20,000. She was lodged at the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $50,000/10 percent.
