Construction To Improve Traffic Flow Begins At Maple, Orchard Lake Roads

W. BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - Expect more delays as you drive in the area of one of Oakland County's busiest intersections.

Construction begins at the crossroads at Orchard Lake and Maple in West Bloomfield Township.  Daily about 60,000 cars and trucks travel through this area.

The $3.35 million project will include widening the intersection to accommodate double left turn lanes on the northbound Orchard Lake and eastbound Maple approaches, along with signal upgrades, new asphalt and other improvements.

Expect back-ups and delays with only one lane open in each direction for traffic, with the left turn lane open on a limited basis. The project is expected to be finished by late November.
