Convicted Michigan Serial Killer Eligible For Parole This Month

DETROIT (WWJ) - Family and friends of one victim of a Michigan serial killer are fighting to try to keep him locked up. Don Miller admitted to killing four people in the mid-70's  while a student at the university.

In 1979, while in jail for the rape of a woman and attempted murder of the victim's brother, Miller confessed to killing four women, including his fiancee between 1977-1978.

During his student days at MSU, Miller was a member of the marching band, had a girlfriend, and graduated with a degree in criminal justice, but he had a dark side that went unnoticed until the rape

He led authorities to the bodies of the woman he killed and because of that -- he was offered a plea deal with the chance of parole one day.

Miller, now 61-years-old, and the opportunity for parole is near.

Kristine Guske Stuart was one of those killed in late 70's by Miller.

Kristine's mother, Margaret Guske, of Port Huron, wants him to remain behind bars.

"It's hard, it's very hard," said Guske,"She was our oldest daughter out of our seven children, and we were all very close. It's hard to bring it all up again."

Those who knew the victims have started a petition to gather signatures to submit to the parole board asking that Miller remain behind bars.

The parole board hearing will be held in late August.
