Former School Bus Aide Faces Sex Assault Charges Involving Kids

ALPENA, Mich. (AP) - A former bus aide in northern Michigan is facing charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted six young riders.

WHSB-FM reports 25-year-old Andrew Bartz of Alpena is charged with first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct in the case.

Authorities say he worked as an aide for the Thunder Bay Transportation Authority and five of the assaults took place in Alpena County and one was in Alcona County. The station says the children involved range in age from 4 to 16 and at least some have special needs.

In court this week, Bartz stood mute to the charges. His attorney says he hopes to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors. Bartz is due back in court next month.
